In a 2019 collaboration with Bloomingdale’s, TO THE MARKET brought the work of eight TTM Maker Groups in Subsaharan Africa to the Style Kingdom Carousel. The collaboration provided these artisans, many of whom are women, with unprecedented access to the purchasing power of a leading U.S. retailer. Bloomingdale’s traveled with the TTM team to Kenya, and witnessed first hand the dignity of work - and the power it provides to uplift communities.
With over 4,000 TTM artisan-made and responsibly sourced products in stores across the country and online, the collaboration provided 120 days of additional work to the makers. With the extra wages and stability, the project helped increase access to food, shelter, and sanitation, while improving local opportunities for children to access healthcare and education.
