TTM Team Q&A: Sharifa Al-Turki

We're introducing members of the TO THE MARKET team in our Q&A series. Today, meet Sharifa, who works in our Sales and Operations division!

Name: Sharifa Al-Turki

Where You’re From: Saudi Arabia but I grew up in England.

Where You Call Home Today: West Hollywood, California

How do you practice sustainability in your everyday life?

Sustainability is really important to me, and I practice it in a number of ways. Firstly, I became a vegetarian just over a year ago after learning how bad the consumption of meat and fish is for our planet. I also steer away from buying fast fashion, and any products that are single-use, non-recyclable, or harmful to our environment.

What excites you most about your career?

I think what excites me most about my career is knowing that my work is having an impact. It's hard to lose motivation when you know that what you're doing is good for people and for the planet, and that brings me great peace and happiness. I also love that I get the opportunity to learn from people I admire while also feeling welcome to bring my own ideas to the table. Lastly, sustainability and fashion are my two greatest interests, so any opportunity that allows me to collaborate in that space is exciting!

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

My biggest inspiration is my grandfather. He showed me what it means to be dedicated to your dreams and passionate about your work. He showed me that pushing the boundaries in many aspects of work and life can reap massive benefits and also teach you humbling lessons. He was an inspiring and honorable man, and I hope that I impact lives in the same way he impacted so many.

Pick a song to describe yourself and explain why you chose it.
