Where You’re From: I grew up in St. Louis MO, and spent 11 years in NYC.
Where You Call Home Today: Austin, TX
How do you practice sustainability in your everyday life? I practice sustainability everyday by recycling and composting, I eat a plant based diet to reduce my ecological footprint, and I practice conscious consumerism, by considering the environmental impact and longevity of the products I buy, investing in quality items that will last longer and require fewer replacements.
What excites you most about your career? Changing the fashion narrative excites me because, the fashion industry has been criticized for its negative impact on the planet and society. By working in sustainable product development, I become part of a movement to change this narrative, promoting a more responsible and conscious approach to fashion. Also storytelling excites me because, sustainable and ethical products often have compelling stories behind them, such as the use of upcycled materials, support for marginalized communities, or partnerships with conservation efforts. As a product developer, I get to be part of telling these inspiring stories to consumers.
Who is your biggest inspiration and why? My grandma is an incredible source of inspiration in my life. Her unwavering hope, boundless positivity, and relentless determination have been awe-inspiring, especially in the face of various challenges. Not only is she my best friend, but she has also been a pillar of support throughout my entire journey, teaching me valuable life lessons in humility, honesty, and perseverance. Thanks to her, I firmly believe that these qualities can propel us toward our dreams and lead us to a life filled with pride and fulfillment.
Pick a song to describe yourself and explain why you chose it. “Ray of Light” by Madonna perfectly encapsulates my journey. This empowering track has a profound message that resonates deeply with me as it urges listeners to embrace new possibilities with open minds and hearts while finding beauty and wonder in life.
